At present, I am reading 3 books. On Writing Well by William Zinsser (2nd Time), Palkhiwala, the Court Room Genius by Soli Sorabjee, and A Practical Approach to the science of Ayurveda by Acharya Balkrishna, (2nd time). I keep referring to Tools of Titan by Tim Ferriss.
There is a famous saying, ANY BOOK WORTH READING IS WORTH READING AT LEAST TWICE.

Good books enhance our knowledge. We know many things by reading books.

Yes, books are reservoirs of knowledge. Many knowledgeable people have written books and we get to know about the thinking and insight of the world around us with their books,

The matter doesn’t end just by knowing. Our mind uses the knowledge which is acquired. We learn to see different perspectives. The mind opens up. With an open mind, we can experience and deal with the world in a better way.

A book can take us to a different world. A world created by the author. This stretch our mind and health of our mind improve.
Like a movie, a book takes us away from our routine life. This is important if you are suffering from stress. Secondly, the feel-good factor by reading a good book also helps in dealing with stress.
This is obvious. We learn many new words by reading a book. I find Kindle a better choice only because of its in-built dictionary facility. You can immediately know the meaning of the word.
Improved vocabulary helps us with better writing and better speaking.
Reading so many authors in some way enhances our skill of writing. Whether you read to learn writing or not, your brain is learning tacitly.
A good reader is a better writer.

Reading reduces sleep and induces sleep.
Reading helps put your consciousness on another plane, which will induce sleep. Moving into a fictional world eases the tension and helps them relax better. That is one of the best ways to get a restful sleep.

Therefore, reading a book helps in a dual way for better sleep.
Reading stimulates the mind and keeps it active. An active mind is good for memory. It slows down your decline in mental power. Reading can preserve your memory in old age. Mental activities like reading can prevent Alzheimer’s. This is a type of dementia that causes memory problems.

When you read a book your mind is continuously analyzing what the author is saying. Either you are analysing the language or the content. In both the case your mind is active. This way you are enhancing your analytical skill.

It is perhaps one of the best utilisations of our time. Reading a book that offers multiple benefits is time well spent. An activity that offers so many benefits is well worth the time doing it.
13. You are Never Lonely
“There is no friend as loyal as a book.”
A person with reading habits is never lonely. A book can be with you for hours and makes you experience a different world. You never feel alone and lonely.
With a Kindle app on my mobile, I now don’t mind long waiting hours, especially at dispensaries where waiting is inevitable. Long waiting time is no longer time-wasting, its tie well spent with reading books.
“I find television very educating. Every time somebody turns on the set, I go into the other room and read a book.”
