Our visit to beautiful Singapore

Singapore, an island city-state off southern Malaysia, is a global financial center with a tropical climate and multicultural population. Singapore gained independence as the Republic of Singapore (remaining within the Commonwealth of Nations) on 9 August 1965 with Lee Kuan Yew as the prime minister and Yusof bin Ishak as the president.

Singapore has a total area of 719.1 sq KM and the population of 5.6 mn (Mumbai area is 603 sq KM and the population of 12.44 mn).

There is a Bollywood movie titled Singapore released in 1960 starring Shammi Kapoor. The famous song Jeevan mein ek baar aana Singapore was popular in those days.

We visited this Singapore during the last week of May 2017. The flight time from Mumbai to Singapore is about 5 hours. SD 1 = INR. 48/- .

Presented here is a pictorial journey of our Singapore days. As usual, we traveled our own with any tour organiser. Within Singapore, we traveled mostly by public transport i.e. Singapore Metro Rail Network (MRT) or Bus. Singapore has an excellent public transport network.
