Havdava is a part of Gujarati cuisine. The original recipe is made of flour mix of rice and Oodad flour (Dhokala Flour) and Bottle Gourd here we have made some changes and used Oats in place of flour and other vegetables in place of bottle gourd.
Cooking Time: 45 to 60 minutes Serves: 2
Ingredients:
- 1 Cup Rava
- ½ cup Oats
- ½ teaspoon Chilli Paste
- ¼ cup Coriander (Chopped)
- ½ cup Capsicum (Shredded)
- ½ cup Cabbage (Shredded)
- 2 teaspoon Curd
- Water for Consistency
- Salt to taste
- Pinch of Baking Soda
For Tampering (Tadaka, Vaghar) :
Process:
Batter:
- Take a big bowl
- Add Rava, Oats, and curd, soak for ½ an hour
- Then add coriander, cabbage, and capsicum in it, mix well
- Add water to get a medium thick consistency
- Add seasoning i.e. chili paste, salt and soda powder, mix well
- Take a small cooking bowl for tadaka (Tampering, tadaka, vaghar), add Oil, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, Hing powder, dry red chili, and sesame seeds and
- Add tampering in the big bowl
Main Handava:
- Take no stick pan
- Heat a spoon of oil in it for a while
- Spread the batter on it (Palm size)
- Cover the spread with a lid and let it cook for 5 minutes
- Flip it over and drizzle some oil
- When both sides become golden/brown the Handava is ready to serve
- Take out from the Pan and serve with Tomato Sauce and Coriander Chatani ) Dip
